Admission

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

Canara High School CBSE follows the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Syllabus and English is the medium of instruction. Due importance is given to national language as well as regional languages. The academic year is divided into 2 terms. The first term is from June to September and the second term is from October to April.

ADMISSION :

  1. Admission is open to all children irrespective of caste, creed, religion or region, subject to rules of Canara High School CBSE.
  2. Application form or admission can be obtained from the office on payment of prescribed fee.
  3. Only those who have completed 5 ½ years on 31st May are eligible for admission to class I. No relaxation in this regard will be made. Parents should note that the date of birth entered in the school records will remain the same throughout the academic career of the student.
  4. Original date of birth certificate and a photo copy thereof, have to be submitted along with the application for admission.
  5. Applications or admission should be made in the prescribed form and should be submitted along with the Transfer certificate from the school last attended. Every pupil on admission shall pay the prescribed fee.

ATTENDANCE :

  1. Regular attendance in class is a condition for promotion. A student will not be promoted to the next higher class if his / her attendance falls below 75%.
  2. Promotion is based on a total performance in the tests and exams for attendance. The school conducts examination, on regular basis so as to remove fear, stress and strain in the children.
  3. Punctual and regular attendance is insisted upon. No leave of absence is granted except on prior written application from parents/guardian in the form provided in the diary. Should the absence exceed 3 days, notice must be forwarded to the principal.
  4. In order to be punctual those who depend on both public and private conveyance to come to school, must leave early to avoid rush at the peak hours.
  5. When a pupil is absent from school without leave for some reason not foreseen e.g., illness, she/ he must on returning to school, bring a note of excuse from her/ his parents/ guardian in the form provided in the diary.
  6. Parents are not permitted to take their child out of school during term time or extend holidays. It is upsetting for a child to miss lessons and to lag behind in work. In some sequential subjects absence can create great difficulties.
  7. If leave of absence is unavoidable, details of dates should be intimidated in a leave letter in advance and a record maintained on the relevant page in the school diary.
  8. Extension of leave without informing the school authority can result in a student’s name being struck off the class register.
